Summer Learnin’

2

aaa

The University offers a number of courses related to LGBT issues.

I know at least a few of you will be in Athens over the summer for school. Yes, I hear you groaning now as I type this. But what better way to spend your summer in school than studying sexuality and gender. I mean, let’s be honest, its mounds better than studying history. Just think of all the fun conversations you can have with your parents when they ask you what you are learning in school.

To help motivate you better, I have compiled a list of courses that will be taught over the summer that I thought our readers might find interesting. If you get a chance, sign up to take a class that will teach you about yourselves!

SPCM 3310 – Visual Mediated Rhetorics of Gender and Sexuality
This course will survey types of media theory and criticism within and outside of the discipline of rhetoric. Extra attention will be given to the visual medium and the mediation of gender and sexuality. The purpose of the course is to introduce students to theoretical perspectives and case studies in order to enhance their ability to critically see, think, write, or in other ways create better rhetorical artifacts for heterosexual women and men and LGBTQ communities. This course is reading intensive.

More after the jump …

PSYC 3260 – Human Sexuality

PSYC 3100 – Special Topics: Romantic Relationships
A class on the psychology around Romantic Relationships. Sorry, that is all I have gotten since it was a special topics class.

SOCI 3280 – Sociology of Gender

SOCI 4610 – The Family
Family study utilizing data from the fields of anthropology, individual and social psychology, history, sociology, economics, and psychiatry.
