Places of Worship
Our Hope MCC
(OHMCC) is located on S. Lumpkin Street, across from the UGA practice fields, in the Presbyterian Student Center. The congregation is made up of a mixture of LGBT people and straight allies. The pastor – Rev. Renee DuBose – is a lesbian herself and serves as a great inspiration to the church community. I’ve been to service at OHMCC and it reminded me a lot of my years in the Methodist church. They hold weekly worship at 11 a.m. on Sundays.
Our Hope provides an opportunity to explore a spiritual experience that affirms we are all God’s creation and that we are truly loved by our Creator. The congregation is comprised of people from every walk of life. Our diverse membership, blessed with many talents and gifts, is our greatest asset. With God’s strength and guidance, Our Hope will use these gifts. We will continue to grow and serve all people as we seek to spread God’s love throughout the world.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens
(UUFA) is off of Timothy Road. From their Web site: With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion — that is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a “non-creedal” religion: we do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed. UUFA also holds weekly worship on Sundays at 11 a.m.
